What a joke!!!

Holland scores an offside goal and the refs allow it. Every other sport takes advantage of technology except soccer. Instant replay will make the game better and most imortantly make the correct call on the field.

Yeah, you are absolutely right Soprano, that goal should not have counted. I can't believe FIFA have not introduced any technological advancements that would allow the right calls to be made.

baseball has balls bouncing off of foul poles for home runs and these blind umps cant see it....in this day and age replay should be a part of every sport in some way.

I've seen games where the ball clearly didn't cross the line and a goal was given, they mentioned a while back that they could install some sensor on the goal posts to determine whether the ball crossed the line, but it was never implemented. They should do like football and give each coach a challenge flag (maybe 1 challenge a half or something) so they can challenge a call on the field. It really is rediculous that FIFA doesn't get with the times.

That goal cost Italy the game, maybe even the whole tourney. Sad.

Absolutely. You have the Technology, use it. I mean isn't the objective to make the right call????

It was no offside, Buffon and Panucci were technically inbetween van Nistelrooy and the goal. Buffon pushed Panucci out of bounds but he still counts as a Italian player according to the FIFA-rules and the goal should stand as it did. An Instant replay would not have changed the ruling on the field. Disallowing the goal would mean that every defender can step out of bounds to open the off-side trap. That would creat some funny situations.

I also lost some money on the game, but I don't really care, WE BEAT ITALY :dancefool:dancefool:dancefool

Call was correct. Technology would be an unecessary, tedious, and expensive addition creating more problems than it would solve.

What if the guy is legitimately injured and can't get back onto the field? I heard Panucci needed treatment. I know there are divers in this sport, but you can't expect him back on the field if he is injured.

It was a fair goal, good call by the ref. BTW van Nistelrooy deserved a penalty for that foul by Buffon earlier, but he kept going and didn't dive to the ground to get a penalty-kick.

Unfortunately, maybe too many people don't care about the Euro Cup.

I mean most people consider it a prep for the World Cup anyways.

The only reason he didn't go down was that he thought he could still reach the ball and score.

The Euro is a harder tourney to win to be honest. You don't get any easy opponents (except this time around with Austria) In the World Cup, you tend to get inferior opponents in the dance, like the African teams, and the North American teams, etc... The only good non euro teams in the World Cups are Brazil and Argentina. So I find the Euro is a tougher tourney to beat.

I have only seen that happen twice, the other time was Arsenal/Liverpool this year and it was called the opposite way. Carragher slid off the pitch while trying to make a play and they called Bendtner offside (Arsenal didn't score, it was the play when Bendtner trying to jump over the ball stopped Fabregas' shot).

Now, in truth, I think Panucci should be considered in play b/c he was actively involved in the play as opposed to being injured or seeking treatment off the pitch. However, what is the correct ruling? I haven't been able to find it anywhere.

Now, as to technolgy, soccer absolutely 100% more than any other sport in the world needs technology. Way, way too many games are determined by poor officiating and/or incorrect offside calls. It would be so, so easy and wouldn't disrupt the play nearly as much as everyone claims. Easily could simply let the play continue and if a goal is scored have the 4th official review it. You all watch games and see how quickly and easily a review shows the correct ruling. With scoring so difficult in soccer you can't afford to have so many incorrect calls.

The problem is money, the FIFA wants the same rules in every country. Europa, Northern America and most South american nations/teams can easily afford the technology needed for instant replays, but alot of african teams/nations and Asian teams can't afford a system like that.
